Copper

USES:Copper is an important component of a powerful antioxidant enzyme (Superoxide dismutase or SOD) that helps reduce the levels of harmful free-radicals in our bodies and also plays an important role in energy production.
Copper is also needed for melanin, the substance that gives hair and skin their pigmentation, and to maintain a healthy immune system.

DEFICIENCY:
Copper deficiency may lead to fatigue, depression, poor immunity, susceptibility to sunburn, and skin depigmentation.

FOOD SOURCES:
Foods containing good levels of copper include liver, certain nuts (cashews, pinenuts, pecans), chickpeas, wheat germ and bran, oats, buckwheat, barley, wholemeal pasta and breads.
